A soft brushed microfleece lining offers next-to-skin comfort and wicking, with an adjustable ankle cuff designed to give a close, warmth retaining fit. You don’t really expect a tight or exact fit in a bootie that is intended for relaxing around camp, but you do expect that it will not be so loose that you walk out of them on the one hand, nor do you expect that they will fit tightly and snugly like a sock that is stretchable and your nominal size. The Pertex outer shell is very water-repellent, and the synthetic sole stood up well to walking around on rocky soil. OUTSIDE OF SHARP END USE THEY MAKE A NICE CAMP SLIPPER, GOOD FOR LOUNGING AROUND BETWEEN TRIPS UP HIGH (MAYBE BRING 2 PAIRS TO LEAVE ONE STASHED AT A HIGH CAMP) AND ACTUALLY FIT OK INSIDE YOUR OUTER SHELLS FOR SHORT TRIPS OUTSIDE.Once they were on I found walking about in them no problem whatsoever, they didn't flop about or slip on the carpet or wooden floor. As can be seen in the photo, the two ends of the elastic were wrapped together in some cloth and stitched together (by hand? WHERE OTHER BOOTIES ARE MAYBE AS WARM, THEY ARE EITHER DOWN WHICH COMPROMISES THEM, OR HAVE BULKY SOLES THAT THAT MAKE THEM HARD TO USE.

The next photo shows the stuff sack with both booties stuffed inside with a ruler to show the compact size and tiny amount of space they would take in an ultralight backpack. Unlike some bulky models we’ve tried, these pack down so small and weigh so little there’s no need to justify bringing them. Whether the Montane’s Hypalon sole is sufficiently grippy will wait until I can get into snow (possibly during my upcoming Asia trip). People say they are a bit tight to get on,I didn't find that to be the case,I have quite slim ankles though.The insulation comes in the form of 160g/m2 PrimaLoft® GOLD Insulation throughout the Bootie upper that is warm, packable and exceptionally fast drying. Some have been quite warm (in one case, as warm as my double climbing boots), while others were warm enough only when around the fireplace in a cabin. The boot is insulated with 160g of Primaloft Gold that keeps your feet warm and dry and is also easily packable, and Grip Control in the inner sole prevents this insulation from slipping to provide better stability and last.
